Make the machine safe before you touch it.Turn off the power and unplug the cord before threading, changing the needle or bobbin, cleaning, or checking moving parts. Wait at least 5 minutes before a qualified technician opens the control box. Stop immediately for liquid ingress, abnormal smell/noise, smoke, repeated electrical errors, or a broken needle you cannot fully recover.

Daily care & correct setup
Daily operator checklist
- Switch off and unplug; remove the bobbin case.
- Clean lint and thread waste from the rotary hook and feed dog area.
- Check the rotary hook oil gauge; refill when below the lower line.
- Inspect the needle for bend, blunt point, blocked eye or damage.
- Confirm the needle is pushed fully up, with its long groove facing left.
- Check the upper thread path and bobbin-case tension for smooth pull.
- Confirm safety covers and finger guard are attached before sewing.
- Test on scrap material after any tension, pressure or setting change.
Oil: Brother specifies high-speed spindle oil for the rotary hook. The initial fill is about 120 ml; use the gauge lines, not guesswork.
