Sewing Machine Wheel

3. Thread Take-Up: The handwheel plays a role in the threading process by controlling the thread take-up mechanism. Turning the handwheel after threading the machine helps to bring up the bobbin thread and secure the upper and lower threads together.

4. Machine Maintenance: The handwheel can be used to rotate the sewing machine's internal mechanisms, providing access for cleaning, oiling, or troubleshooting purposes. It allows you to move various components such as the feed dogs, shuttle or bobbin case, and tension disks for maintenance or repair.

To use the sewing machine wheel:

1. Positioning: Ensure that the machine is properly set up on a stable surface with the power turned off.

2. Turning the Wheel: Grasp the handwheel firmly and rotate it in a clockwise direction (towards you) to lower the needle into the fabric or to move the machine's internal components.

3. Controlling Speed: The speed at which you turn the handwheel determines the speed at which the needle moves. Turning it slowly provides more control and precision, while turning it quickly makes the needle move faster.

4. Releasing the Handwheel: After making the necessary adjustments or completing a task, release the handwheel to allow the machine's motor or foot pedal to take over and operate the sewing machine automatically.

It's important to note that the handwheel should not be forcefully turned or reversed while the machine is in operation, as this can damage the machine's internal mechanisms.
