The sewing machine has a variety of sewing machine presser feet to make certain jobs much easier. Besides the basic presser foot for straight stitching, you can attach a number of different presser feet that perform many other functions on most sewing machines.
Presser feet add different functions to your sewing machine, so you can do much more than straight stitch. Thus, besides giving your sewing a professional look, it also allows you to sew easily.
After examining your sewing machine, you can find precise information about the style or type of presser foot of your machine in the accessories section of the owner's manual. Or go to your nearest service/dealer and tell them your make/model and ask them to show you the appropriate presser foot.
Let's see which sewing machine presser foot do you have or need to buy?
Straight Presser Foot
This foot is used for simple straight stitching only. If you can't get started for anything other than that it will be pins breaking. Do a lot of makeup, especially with fabrics, for flat and heavy custom items.
Zik Zak Foot (Multi-Purpose Foot)
This general multi-purpose foot is essential for all other stitches on your sewing machine. You can use it as a general purpose presser foot for straight stitching, zig zag stitching and most decorative stitches.
Zipper Foot
The zipper foot allows sewing as closely as possible to the zipper teeth. Used to sew standard zippers. No hidden zipper sewing is done with this foot. You can also roving stitch with this foot.
Hidden Zipper Foot
Unlike the zipper foot, this foot is used to sew a concealed zipper.
Curling Foot
This foot is especially used to obtain a neat and beautiful edge on thin fabrics. It is sewn on the machine with the straight stitch or zig-zag stitch setting. There are two types as 3 mm and 6 mm. It is a great presser foot for hem hemming.
Buttonhole Foot
This foot is used to open buttonholes. There are lines on it to adjust the buttonhole length.
Button Foot
This foot allows you to easily attach any flat button. Select the zigzag pattern, adjust the stitch width to match the holes in the button, reset the stitch length to zero and sew.
Blind Stitcher Foot
This foot allows you to create an almost invisible edge. Instead of hand sewing; You can easily make trousers, skirts or dress hems with this foot. It is the best foot used especially to press the trouser legs.
Overcast Foot
It is used for overcasting the fabric edge and making smooth edge printing. If your machine has the overcast stitch setting, sew with it. If not, the stitch width is usually 2mm and the stitch length is 1.5mm, with the zig-zag stitch setting.
Applique Foot
Very similar to the standard presser foot, this foot provides a clear view of where the seam is placed, thanks to its clear plastic coating.
Walking Foot
It is a foot used for sewing multiple layers of fabric. It is a very useful foot when quilting or sewing bags. It also provides convenience when sewing knitted fabrics. The fabric is fed equally from the bottom and top.
Roving Foot
This allows the ribs to fit neatly into the slightly raised area on the bottom of the foot and to sew as close to the cord as possible. This foot has various sizes. Those used for clothing are narrower while those for home decoration or flooring are wider.
Teflon Foot
Most of these presser feet we have counted are made of metal. When working with vinyl, leather, suede, you must use a teflon-coated presser foot. Teflon feet allow the fabric to move more easily than metal feet.
Cylinder Leather Sewing Foot
It is used for fabrics that do not feed well, such as leather, artificial leather, plastic, foil and so on. Teflon foot is an alternative foot.
Rib Foot
This foot, which makes thin pleats, is best used with light fabrics and with a double needle in the machine.
