    Sewing Machine Needle Sizes

The first tip is to pay attention to whether the needle being used at work has the correct thickness and that the thread passes easily through it.

However, if you are a beginner and still do not have much practice, know that the lower the number of the needle, the finer it will be.

Needles numbering 9 to 11 are ideal for fine fabrics, such as silk, organza and sheer.

Needles of thickness 14 and 16 are indicated for cotton and oxford fabrics.

Now, if you are going to work with jeans, twill or velvet, use 18 and 21 thick needles.

Remember that for each type of work there is a needle indication. For embroidery and decorative stitches using metallic threads, the needle is indicated for the Singer 2011 model. If you are doing quilting or patchwork work, use the 2019 model.

If the seam is made of cotton fabric, the best option is the 2020 needle. In the case of fabrics with elasticity and decorative double seams, use the model 2024 or 2025. To work with ribs or decorative seam, the ideal is to use 2028 needles .

When sewing thick fabrics such as jeans, thick needles should also be used, as is the case with model 2026. And for use in knitwear and stretch fabrics, use 2045 needles.

Do not forget that the life span of a needle is 12 hours and that it must always be fixed correctly on the machine - with the flattened part behind, it cannot be bent, so as not to damage the fabric or the machine.
